Install a lock

Use + Set Up on the mobile Locks screen when your selected-site permissions or service pass allow installation. Stay near the lock with Bluetooth enabled.

Installation sets up the hardware. The site's members, access grants, and device policies still need to be configured before ordinary users can rely on it.

Before you start

  • Select the correct site or check the site named on your service pass.
  • Confirm that installation tools are available to your account.
  • Have the lock and installation materials ready.
  • Keep the phone connected and charged; allow enough time for any required firmware update.

1. Choose and identify the lock

Choose the hardware type, such as Mortise or Euro. Use Not sure which type you have? or the help control for illustrations.

Follow the turn-on instructions, then select the correct nearby device. Use its identifier and the provided identification tools to avoid installing a different nearby lock. Where offered, scan the code on the lock or enter its serial number to narrow the nearby list; scanning requires camera permission.

2. Check firmware

The app checks whether the device needs an update before installation. Follow the Update Required flow when shown and keep the phone nearby until it finishes. Do not continue physical setup on the assumption that an unfinished update succeeded.

3. Follow the installation guide

Choose the guided or quick-install path offered by the app. Follow the steps for the selected hardware, confirm completed steps, and use the help sheets for pin position or installation questions.

If a firmware update is still in progress, follow the app's progress and available tools. Wait for the required update and installation steps to complete before proceeding.

4. Test the device

Run the prompted lock tests. Use diagnostics or troubleshooting if the result does not match the expected behavior. Return to the physical installation steps if adjustment is needed.

5. Save notes and finish

Enter a useful device name, location, and installation notes where your permissions allow. Save the notes, complete the flow, then return to the device list or set up another lock.

6. Verify site access

In the web dashboard, confirm the device is in the intended site and policy. Add it to the appropriate access grants and test with a normal member credential during an allowed time.

The earlier setup flow's group-assignment instructions do not describe the current Sites access model. Use access grants to assign doors and schedules to user groups.
