Update lock firmware

Firmware updates require a supported lock and the appropriate device-maintenance permission. A service pass can provide update tools; ordinary door access does not.

Before you begin

Stand within Bluetooth range. Keep your phone charged, Bluetooth enabled, and the app in the foreground. Follow any battery or readiness checks the app displays. Allow the full update to finish before leaving the door.

Start an update

  1. Select the correct site and find the lock in Locks.
  2. Long-press it or open its action menu, then open Device Details.
  3. Open Lock Settings and Software Update when available.
  4. Review the available update and begin.
  5. Keep the phone near the lock through preparation, transfer, installation, and validation.
  6. Wait for the completion result, then confirm the reported firmware and test the lock.

If no update is available, the screen reports that state. If the device is incompatible or the update fails, follow the displayed recovery or retry instructions. Do not treat leaving the progress screen as a successful update.

The new-lock installation flow can require an update before setup continues. See Install a lock.

If it fails

Check Bluetooth, distance, phone permissions, device power, and connectivity needed to obtain the update. Stay at the device and use the app's retry flow. If it still fails, record the device name, firmware version, and error and contact support.
