Device policies
Device policies control lock behavior at a site. They are separate from access grants, which control people's door access.
Open a policy
Select the site, open Device Policies, and select a policy or create a new one. On its detail page, review the locks assigned to it before changing settings.
Add locks using the policy's lock-selection controls. Moving a lock to another policy changes the settings it receives. The site default policy is protected; deleting another policy moves its locks to the default.
Behavior
Choose a default behavior and, when needed, scheduled changes:
| Behavior | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Standard | Wakes on approach and maintains more frequent cloud connectivity |
| Standard-spin | Requires a spin of the knob to wake, with connectivity like Standard |
| Efficiency | Requires a spin to wake and synchronizes less frequently to conserve battery |
Choose the behavior for the door's usage and maintenance needs. Less frequent synchronization can mean changes take longer to reach a device.
Edit the default and scheduled changes, then Save. Use Discard to abandon an unsaved edit. Check the site's time zone when reviewing schedules.
Locking
Configure Auto-relock and its delay. The default delay is five seconds. Save the setting after changing it. Only use locking options actually offered by your deployment.
Credentials and sleep
The credential settings control whether locks accept NFC and RFID technologies. Turning a technology on does not create a person's credential or grant them access. Advanced credential settings should match the site's credential provider.
Allow sleep controls whether locks may enter hibernate. Enabling it does not immediately put a lock to sleep. This setting has its own Save/Discard controls. Authorized staff use the mobile app's device controls to enter or exit hibernate.
Confirm the result
After saving, inspect the device's reported behavior and configuration. Compatible firmware and device synchronization are required; saving a policy is not proof that every lock has applied it yet.
For externally managed Link sites, policy editing is unavailable because the external access-control system owns configuration. The dashboard continues to show device status.
